A brief note about the website compiler: His name is Daryl Sturrock, oldest son of Alys. He is a (recently) retired Maths/Science high school teacher. Two of his interests are photography and B&W darkroom work. Here is a photo of him taken in S.W. Tasmania in early January, 2016 (in the background is the entrance to Bathurst Harbour). He lives in Townsville.
A brief note about the sunset photo featured on the home page: It was taken on my humble Samsung Galaxy A3 phone in late December 2016. The location is along the Wimmera River, just over a kilometre south of the river mouth, on a section of the river which runs roughly east-west. (If you track north west about 55 km from Walden on the Google Earth map, you can easily find this location).
I would like to sincerely thank:
- Alys Sturrock and Ruth Shaw (as mentioned earlier) for their considerable help in identifying many of the individuals and occasions depicted in the photos.
- John Bunge (brother of Alys) for gifting to me the glass plate negatives and the old Thornton Pickard camera from the hall way cupboard at Walden.
- Janet Robins, nee Sturrock (my sister) for helping out with the Walden photos shown in the Introduction.
- Helen and Gerald Daly for lending me their nineteen 5 x 7 inch glass plate negatives, and providing the information on Scotland’s Viceroy and Dalmore.
- Batanai Pfumayaramba (my son-in-law) for his considerable help in setting up the website.
We are interested in your thoughts about the photos and/or the website itself. If you have information about any of the photos which can be added to the website to improve it we are also very keen to receive that. Please feel free to send a message to us in the box below.
